Acoustic Alchemy: Things of Stone & Wood & Toby

Friday 8 December, 2017

Things of Stone and Wood helped define Melbourne in the early 90s.  Top 10 single ‘Happy Birthday Helen’, and gold album ‘The Yearning’ kicked off a stellar career.

Their imaginative use of organic instruments paved the way for the likes of John Butler, The Waifs and Angus & Julia Stone.

They are ARIA winners and APRA Songwriters of the Year – but on stage performances truly demonstrates why they’re so loved.

This will be a very special performance at the Quarry Amphitheatre (after launching their debut album “The Yearning” at The Quarry years ago)  – it’s going to be an emotional and wonderfully charged performance. Things Of Stone & Wood do everything, they draw you in, they make you feel and they make you dance.  They’re one of the best live bands you’ll ever see.

Also featuring Toby and Carus Thompson!

Toby powers each live performance with her lyrical talent and fierce, dynamic vocals.  Her passionate performance is raw fun with a mix of soul, blues, folk, indi rock, & a splash of gypsy hick!  In just the last six months our local songstress has performed over 50 shows across Europe & Canada,  plus her shows in WA.  She also launched her new single “In Your Skin” – produced by Joel Quarterman. (Eskimo Joe)  Music is her soul.

International troubadour Carus Thompson is a gifted songwriter and storyteller.  His energetic and passionate performances have built a legion a fans worldwide.  He has sold over 30 000 albums and supported luminaries such as Dave Matthews, Damien Rice & Jack Johnson.  Carus will journey through quiet ballads, to all out folk-rockers, to some reggae dance-floor fillers!

This year’s Acoustic show will be an awesome night to remember!  Experience the magic: Picnic at sunset and amazing acoustic talent under the stars!

BYO picnic & alcohol… and have a dance on stage!
